About Me & How I Found Coaching
Hi! I wanted to introduce myself a little more and chat about how I came to coaching. Because coaching is a partnership, I find it valuable to introduce some of my personal self as well.
I was born in California and moved to Oregon for college. I went to Portland State University and got my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Family studies. During college and after graduating, I explored multiple different career paths including Social Work, Nursing, CNA, and currently work on the Administrative Side of a healthcare clinic.
What feels salient to talk about is my pursuit of living a life of alignment. I have changed my life trajectory many times- whether that be changing jobs and careers, leaving relationships with family members, friends, or romantic partners, questioning and re-shaping my religious and political beliefs, or picking up new hobbies and interests. I have always led with my heart and went for what felt right for me and my life at any given time. This is precisely what led me to being a life coach- a calling that came from out of the blue but felt too strong to ignore.
Settled in my current career, I wasn’t looking for a change. One day, I picked up the Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins and my perspective on life changed. She had Martha Beck as a podcast guest, and I was instantly captivated by her story and methodologies. I was listening to one of Martha Beck’s podcasts and was introduced to Life Coaching. It wasn’t until it was mentioned again a handful of podcast episodes later until it clicked for me - this is my next calling.
I spent months researching the career field, the governing bodies, the process of becoming a coach, and having Information Calls with various ICF-credentialed programs. The more a learned about coaching, the more interested and I got, and the more I was sure this was the next goal I needed to chase.
In April of 2026, I graduated as an Executive Life and Leadership Coach from the Institute for Coaching Excellence (IFCE) and am working towards getting my Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential. This is a credential thought the International Coaching Federation (ICF) that is earned through following vigorous schooling, peer coaching, mentoring with a certified ICF coach, testing, and practicing in accordance with their Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.
I love making art and creating, which informs my methodologies of creative expression in my coaching passion. Whether I am crocheting, embroidering, sewing, making friendship bracelets, digital art, affirmation cards, or stickers, you can find me almost every day lost in my own little world and captivated by the process. I am currently working on making affirmation cards and stickers to sell. If you are interested in seeing more of my digital art, check out my Instagram @samishamlifecoachingllc
I live with my spouse and our various pets in Oregon. Outside of running my coaching practice and working my other job, I enjoy spending time with them and our family and friends. I love crafting and exploring multiple hobbies, listening to podcasts, and watching dramatic reality TV shows.
I’d love to have a free Introductory Call to explore your goals and have a conversation about what I do in my life coaching practice. If you’d like to contact me without scheduling, you can fill out my contact form and I’ll be in touch!
